How To Send Public Comments
On the License Applications in Old Town
Public Comments are welcome at the DEP
until the close of the business day on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006.

Please write to the DEP about your concerns. These are due Thursday, Oct. 26, so you may have to fax or hand-deliver your concerns. If you think there should be a public hearing on this important development, please request a hearing in your letter. Two letters are needed, one for each permit application. Details of how to submit your comments are given below. The "Global Permit Transfer Application" transfers pollution licenses that were held by Georgia Pacific to the new owners of the former mill. The "Air Emission License" proposes to relax the air emissions standards in one of the licenses that is being transferred.

Comments must be received at DEP by 5 p.m Thurs., Oct. 26.
If you think that there should be a public hearing on these permits, or that the Board of Environmental Protection should take original jurisdiction in this matter, please state this in your letter of concern.
